Artist's Description
Chevrolet enjoyed a banner year in 1962. The celebration of that golden anniversary year not only saw strong sales, but Chevrolet witnessed wildly popular acceptance of the newly introduced 409ci engine. Only a handful of 409 cars had been built for the ’61 model year. It would be another year before the 409 engine became readily available. Chevy legend Doug Marion reports that 15,019 W-series 409 engines were built at the Tonawanda Engine Plant for the ’62 model year. Of those engines, 8,909 were installed in new cars on the assembly line. The remaining 6,110 409 engines were sold at dealerships as crate motors or service replacements.
About Peter Chilelli
Art is but one of many passions for me. I believe creativity and imagination requires no formal training and all of us have an artist within. I spent much of my life drawing and painting in traditional ways, but years ago, I found with my computer I could create far more than my skills with a pencil or brush could ever produce. What took me days or weeks by hand, now took hours and allowed me to go places with art I only dreamed of before! I have also added photography to my galleries as another way to create. On my pages you will find everything from aviation and architecture to still life, all featured as fine art. -Peter-
